Alternatives to Perfect Fit harness?

I was going to order my dog a perfect fit harness but my jaw dropped when I saw the price! I've got a JRT, he's a chunky boy and he pulls. Very excitable too.

At the moment he has a collar, plus a gentle leader head collar, and a double ended lead.

It works ok although a lot of people think the head collar is a muzzle, and it's getting quite scruffy,

Anyway we're going on a walking holiday and I thought a harness might be nicer for him (with a double ended lead) but ones we've had before rubbed him under the arms - I liked the perfect fit as it's made of fleece and doesn't have to go on over his head.

Any suggestions for other harnesses please which are comfortable? Ideally with a front loop as well.

@Soubriquet Oh she looks darling! She looks stockier than a lot of Chihuahuas, mine is a whippet cross and is currently in a small harness which is a bit tight but next size up (in that brand)is huge on her. I think I will call them.

Definitely call them. They will do mix and match parts to fit the dog properly and it’s free returns too.

I've recently bought 3 for mixed breeds. I initially balked at the price and bought cheaper brands on Amazon.

The larger ones for 2 x 12kg JRTx Spaniels were about £45 each plus delivery. The smaller one for an 8kg JRT x Yorkie was bought later and about £42 including 1st class delivery.

We had to swap some parts for the two larger dogs, which was easy to do. Really happy with them so far. Much lighter than our other harnesses and the pups seem to love them.

The perfect fit harness didn't work for my dog. Liaised with the company, sent photos and swapped multiple bits but my dog just didn't seem comfortable in it. I had one made to measure in the end from a different company.

We have Indi dog Houdini harnesses for our dog , they are really good , wear and wash well .

I wish mine had lasted for years - d dog has chewed through the buckles on 3 pieces in a year! Lots of replacement parts being ordered around here. And we always try to keep it out of her reach!

We have perfect fit for our malamute. We used our pugs spare harness for him at first for when we had to go in the car etc, he then had a perfect fit one (they recommended the size we needed based on his measurements and photos) so from 13 weeks he used that, at about 10 months we had to change one part to the next size but I reckon we won't need a new one now.

If you ever need a spare harness that's cheaper we use this for a pug, it's a great fit and doesn't seem to rub anywhere www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B08FC98FT9?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
