Just need a handhold, really. He's 12 and he has a nasty red lump on his face. It looked like a histiocytoma at first and started to recede on its own but then it flared back up, and he's rubbing/scratching/knocking it and making it bleed, so it has to go. It's hopefully just a sebaceous cyst/adenoma but we're having it sent for histology just in case, and having a fine needle aspirate of a lipoma on his shoulder done as well. I felt awful leaving him at the vet's - he's had a rough year, as he had a nasty run of pancreatitis and had to have ultrasounds and a referral to a specialist, who thankfully diagnosed it as immune-mediated and sorted him out with steroids.
He's just the loveliest, sweetest, funniest, busiest boy in the world, and waiting by the phone is agony (hence wibbling here). Any and all stories of older dogs flying through general anaesthetics with no ill effects would be very welcome!
