Old dog leaving puddles around house

Hello
My mini schnauzer is almost 14. He is very fit and healthy. In the last week he suddenly started to leave puddles of pee around the house. He may have a chill because it's been extremely cold. He only goes on short walks. He keeps cosy and sleeps a lot now.

This evening I noticed a slightly pink tinge in his pee.

I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow but feel so sad and just hope it's not kidney failure. I don't want him to suffer at all. He's had a wonderful life. Preparing for the worst.

Hope everything goes ok at the vet today. Lets hope it is a simple infection that will clear up with some antibiotics.

Blood in the urine is a common sign of a UTI and would also explain the sudden incontinence. It would be cleared up by a course of antibiotics.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst; do let us know how you get on.

Thank you. Appointment is this afternoon so taking along a sample and hoping it is a UTI and he can get some antibiotics. My wee darling has his jumper on today it's so cold.

Went to vet and he's been given Antibiotics for 10 days. Hope they make a difference.

After antibiotics didn't really make a difference we took him to the vet for an X-ray this morning. Had a scan then found stones in bladder and urinary tract. Did we want to go ahead with op? Yes. They then moved the stones to his bladder and operated on him to take them all out. Apparently miniature schnauzers are prone to this.

He's very groggy tonight and in pain poor wee fella.

Hopefully he will be better soon. 10 days of no walks, special diet and antibiotics again.
