Thinking of buying a mud daddy...

Hi, currently making a list of things to buy for when our Labrador pup arrives. We live near beaches and woods (that get very boggy in winter). Would anyone recommend one of these devices for trying to save the house/inside of car at all? Or any other recommendations gratefully received! Thanks

Obviously wouldn't be using until after the course of vaccinations was complete and is safe to do go outside for those sorts of walks!

My dog much approves of ours... He much prefers that we take a flask of boiling water to add in so it's nice and toasty after he has swum in a freezing pool and rolled in the mud :)

Cleans him up well

Our dog lives ours, we put hot water in so by the time we finish our walk, it’s warm.

We've not got one of these but installed a hot outside tap so ours can have a warm hose off after a muddy walk in winter, which is great. Car is ok as have a boot liner and use loads of towels! Old towels are your friends!

Lovely thanks all. Appreciate the tips about the flask of hot water and also thinking about the outside hot tap as that could probably be done quite easily too.

Also debating to buy mud daddy or hozelock version, for our puppy lab.

dog showers

I'd wait and see whether you need one. You'll find plenty of things to spend your money on when you get your pup so no need to spend it on something you might not need.

Our lab has had two baths/showers in the year and a half we've had her when she's rolled in stinky stuff so rarely any need to rinse off.

I bloody love ours.
we had two dogs - a lab and a spaniel (sadly just one now) and they would get so muddy etc.
Before we put them in the car after a walk, we would just rinse them off and then put them into a microfibre drying bag.
by the time they got home, they were usually dry too.
It revolutionised our lives with the dogs.
They hated being hosed down in the garden after the walk, and that involved going through a side gate that needed to be opened from the house etc.
We put hot water in at the start and by the time the walk had finished it is warm.
Does boots and bikes etc too.

Get a Karcher. Much better than a Mud Daddy.

Bobbins36 · 20/10/2022 16:42

Best. Gadget. Ever. My dogs (all labs!) love that they get a hot shower rather than a cold hose down! Fill it with hot, put it in back of car and by the time we are done walkies it is just right.

We have a mud daddy - used a lot in the winter for muddy stinky spaniel who has a penchant for fox shit rolling. Great for doing the dog plus everyone’s wellies before we get back in the car and means I don’t have to wrestle him upstairs for a bath either. I love mine! Also recommend a dogrobe - contains the wet while they dry off.
