Has anyone used Trusted House Sitters?

I've had a look and it seems there's nothing not to like 😲
The only issue I can see is that I guess it could be tricky to get the same sitter every time, and DDog2 would prefer the continuity.

We've tried for local sitters but they've been very lax at coming back to us, which honestly makes me wonder how trustworthy they would be with our pets and home.

Any experiences good or bad would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Can I ask - what do you pay housesitters? With or without pets? We’re thinking about a holiday with the kids and grandkids, and possibly there’ll be no one to petsit.

I had several catsitting gigs with Trusted Housesitters. I had a great time and would strongly recommend the site.

I've just had a look in my local area and most of the listings are really grand places. Is it even worth signing up when you have a tragically average home? We're near the sea and some cracking countryside but our house is old, shabby and full of toys (human and dog lol). I mean I love it, but it's a totally bog standard family home.

My friend lives in a very clean, if slightly dated house (accommodation provided through work, so they are not able to fit new kitchen etc) and he has has lots of people look after his dog. Once the person who was sitting for the dog, had a slight family emergency while pet sitting so contacted my friend to let him know, and took his dog back to their house for a few nights. Dog was then delivered back safely after having a lovely few days on holiday herself.

There are sites that cost a fair bit (upwards of £100 a day) but the sitters are contracted to sit for 24 hours less a 2 hour break in daylight and 1 hour after. Personally I prefer to pay as then at least I know that the pet sitters aren't leaving the dog alone. Obviously if someone is doing it for free you cannot stipulate that they don't leave the dog, well you could but they may well ignore you!

I regularly use a company like this. They are very good and the sitters are lovely. I’m on my third sitter over a ten year period. Not only are your animals well cared for but your house is safe too.
