I have a 6 month old lab who has been pretty easy to train. She is a great girl, good on and off lead, has had great recall etc. However a couple of weeks ago whilst getting her on the lead she grabbed a water bottle out of my hand and ran with it. Unfortunately and stupidly I chased her. This is now a great game. Every time I recall her she comes just close enough to be out of reach and then runs around. Any advice? I've tried ignoring her, walking on, treats, putting her on the lead and then letting her off again but she hasn't got bored of this game yet! Pic attached.

Advice please!

That's typical adolescent behaviour OP.

Had to keep my dog on the trailing line for quite a few months before she could be trusted.

I found dried liver treats very effective for getting my dog's attention. Kept them just for recall.

Just keep doing the recall training. Eventually, she'll get through it and you'll have a lovely trained dog.

She's beautiful.

Training lines are life savers. I used to literally panic if I couldn't find mine in my messy car when taking ddog out when he was a rambunctious teen!

Heaps of good advice here, especially the trailing line, mine has been great for training my own and other dogs! Another vote for how beautiful your dog is - my friend and I were discussing fox red labs today, as I'm thinking about a new dog.

I had this with my collie at the end of walks when he was a similar age to yours. I changed tack and asked him to come to me but when he got close asked him to lie down. I would then go to him and put his lead on. It worked a treat. No running away. Also within a few weeks the silly game was forgotten and he would recall all the way back to me as normal.
