Anyone recommend a room divider for dogs??

They aren’t my dogs, regular visiting dogs and I have a big open plan room but want to be able to separate the kitchen from the other room as if I’m not in the room (even to go for a wee) they will jump on sofas plus one of the dogs sometimes decides to see inside so I want a room divider. Can anyone suggest one? They are small breed so can’t be something they can climb through. Iv seek a couple of things but want actual recommendations so nothing they can squeeze through, nothing they can knock down? Would rather not the old school extended fire gaurd as I’m pretty sure they will get through as they are held only by hooks and the floor is hard floor so slippy… want some thing that I can put away when they aren’t here?

How big is the gap you need to block? There are travel stair gates that would block smaller gaps and freestanding foldable gates like this would cover a larger area.

It’s about 170cm but the walls are at funny angles as it is a kind of diagonal?

that link I did come across (although it is too small) I wondered how sturdy these are and if a dog could knock it down? Plus jump over it….

I use one for a large breed dog but she respects it and doesn’t try to get over it. If she really tried she could knock it over. The one use comes up to my waist.

@FlorettaB do you have the one in the picture? They are little sods… well one of them anyway 😁 so I think that is a potential, push it a bit and can get round the gap at the edge!

I have one like this

Retractable Stair Gate 0-180cm (Upgraded), Extra Wide Stair Gate for Baby/Dog, One Hand Operated Baby Gate, Retractable Dog Gate for Stairways/Hallways/Door/Indoor/Outdoor by OOSOFITT, Black amzn.eu/d/9ChJzTq

But in a neutral colour, I have terriers (and kids!) and they don’t get through it. I use it to keep dogs in / out of kitchen when needed

I have this one and it’s been a life saver! There are different sized ones on the website www.lordsandlabradors.co.uk/products/lords-labradors-wooden-pet-gate&variant=39452537553009&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5_GdouPI-QIVA45oCR1C4wDiEAQYASABEgKz_vD_BwE

I have a random 3 panel, hinged one from Amazon. I’ve had it for a few years. It wouldn’t have worked with my old dog but this one is more laid back.

Babydan make a hexagonal plapen that can be opened out to create a room divider.

Justthinkin · 15/08/2022 13:55

@Shouldhavebutdidnt thanks but that isn’t going to work I don’t think due to the angles of the walls? It’s hard to explain but the walls I want to divide between ar won’t only diagonal but also not able to screw something like that into the wall.

@WelcomeEverythingIsFine Which one please as the link doesn’t take me to a specific one? Those are also quite expensive!

@MrsMoastyToasty Thank you I had a look at those but I don’t really want to have to drill into the walls if I can help it as I rent so it’s another thing to sort out when I move out.

I wanted to see if anyone of the free standing ones were any good .

I have this one: www.lordsandlabradors.co.uk/products/lords-labradors-wooden-pet-gate?_pos=1&_sid=0a9099c7b&_ss=r&variant=39452537585777

Its expensive but I’ve absolutely got my moneys worth from it with a golden retriever puppy. I couldn’t find anything else similar and it was exactly what I wanted, but if you only have an occasional visitor then maybe not suitable.

Thanks @autienotnaughty but I know they would push through that at the edge. I ideally need something reasonably solid that doesn’t need attaching to a wall

@Justthinkin no worries our dog is a lab we used the island at one end and a chair at the other to hold it in place.
