Should I send my dog out to pee?

Dog went out to pee at about 11pm. And he hasn’t gone out since - he hasn’t wanted to. It’s pouring rain non stop but that doesn’t usually bother him. Has been drinking.
He’s a 10 year old golden retriever.

Should I just shove him out the door? He does seem a little Lethargic but that kinda normal for him now.

Whats the alternative

tiredanddangerous · 24/06/2022 12:29

I would take him out for a walk

Communionmom · 24/06/2022 12:38

He can’t be walked daily at the moment due to paw issues. Walked him Wednesday and he was fine.

The alternative is to let him snoozing on the couch.

Im just not sure if the fact he hasn’t wanted to pee in over 12 hours is a warning sign for something?

My 2 yr 7 month beagle cross often goes more than 12 hours from last pee at night to morning one. Even given the option of a later one or an early morning one she's not bothered. The longest has been 16 hours. Envy her her bladder!!!

I’d leave him be, my 15 year old poodle will quite often lay in until midday before getting up to go for a wee.

Mine has a last wee at 7pm and easily goes til 7am without a wee . (Although he might not be able to if he ate / ran about in between )

coffeecupsandfairylights · 24/06/2022 16:19

Sounds fine to me. Mine can easily go 16+ hours without needing a wee.

My dog can go hours without a pee. He has a bladder of steel (and hates rain)

RandomMess · 24/06/2022 16:31

My dog also has a bladder of steel and hates the rain. Her record was 18 hours once.

TBH I am firm with her and send her out first thing and last thing. She usually needs to go around her tea time too if it's been a non-walk day.

She is rarely keen to go out first thing though and often chooses to snuggle in bed with one do the DC than toilet and breakfast!!!

Mine has a steel bladder too, he can do 16 hours before relenting if it's raining

Spanielsarepainless · 27/06/2022 13:22

My first Lab went from 3.00 one afternoon to 2.00 the following afternoon as he didn't want to go out in the rain!
