Is it mean to scatter feed?

It feels mean or maybe I'm being ridiculous. Can’t decide. I have a springer spaniel and met a fellow springer owner at the weekend who said she feeds her two dogs this way and they really enjoy the challenge.

Oh I'm thinking this could be an idea for my dog, we've been having problems with him being sick after eating and the vet has put it down to the speed and which he inhales food. Might try this why we are on holiday as he'll be a solo dog.

We either scatter feed or put our dogs food in a toy (he gets very excited when he sees mango), it has also stopped him being sick after he eats from eating too quickly. He has a new treat puzzle toys as well, its surprising how quickly he learns how they work.

This is all great advice thanks everyone. I couldn't bring myself to going his whole brekkie out the door but i did throw a handful of kibble and he seemed to think it was brilliant. Husband works from home so he's been instructed to throw a load of little bits of sausage out there around noon for an activity.
