Overweight fussy dog update

Thanks everyone for advice last time. Today was vet visit for monthly jab and I was convinced he’d lost weight but he put on again 😩not much 0.3kg. The vets are great and said his dose of steroids will make it harder.

I’ve cut so much, no more cocktail sausages! I only offer his food, no more crusts from toast or treat when I leave the house.

Hes still quite fussy but I genuinely thought I’d made good choices on food amount and any treats. I think I’m going to have to try and get his exercise up.

Thanks for your help before, any more advice gratefully received especially with advice weight loss with the steroids

Does ddog like raw veg? Tbh ours don't get shop bought treats. Cheaper to throw a carrot or broccoli stalk at them!

Yes @Onemoresleeptogonow he’ll eat chopped up carrots but not really interested in a whole carrot

Ive been using ice or frozen hydrate solution as treats and I’ve considered these as free. He may get a treat on walks but only if needed (distraction). I’d say majority of walks now don’t have treats.

He’s had dried chicken or duck, or a smart bone. Not daily and wouldn’t get more than 2 in a day anyway.

i give mini treats when he’s got any knots in his coat but I put in a large tub with other stuff so he has to snuffle for it - just less treats and I get to comb without too much protesting.

Most days he doesn’t even eat his full food allowance on the raw bites (and that’s for a dog 6kg less).

I had been worried he may have lost too much to soon before he went to the vet this morning 😆
