Chihuahua or miniature pinscher? Any advice

Hi,
We have a miniature sausage so know a little about owning a small dog, we're looking to add to the family (but in the future so doing something research).
Our dachshund is perfect for us, cuddle and lazy, hates walks but will go occasionally.
I love small dogs so am thinking a chihuahua or a miniature pinscher however I've heard a lot about chihuahua health issues? Our sausage has had a few medical issues which have been hard.

Any experience/advice on either very much appreciated:)

I have a long coat chihuahua and an english toy terrier (similar - in looks at least - to a miniature pinscher). The ETT has boundless energy and really appreciates a lot of exercise, whereas the chihuahua is a lot lazier and isn't that fussed about walks. I agonised between a min pin and a chihuahua before we settled on a chi and I wouldn't change the decision, I prefer a somewhat lower energy breed and she amazes me every day with how intelligent she is and how quickly she picks up training. There are currently no health tests recommended/suggested by the KC for chihuahuas but you should look out for patella testing (again, not mandatory) and teeth in particular to make sure they have a good bite. Also, there are a lot of 'russian import' stud dogs and breeding bitches around and I have noticed they do seem to (not always though!) fall into more of an extreme face - shorter, more brachycephalic faces. Muzzles shouldn't be too short (or too long).

The chihuahua is also cheaper to insure. I did quotes for different breeds before we settled on a chi - the chihuahua was always the cheapest, but especially against a miniature pinscher and english toy terrier.
