It’s official. I just heard it on the news. I just had to share ❤️

❤️Aren't they just fab little dogs. What's yours called?

NellesVilla · 28/04/2022 22:24

They’re the best dogs- mine is 12, and looks like a puppy.

villainousbroodmare · 28/04/2022 22:24

And I'd say the breed most likely to be thriving, not just surviving, at a great age.

Maydaysoonenough · 28/04/2022 22:28

Is it because they are too stubborn to 'go'?

Bjarnum · 28/04/2022 22:30

21 year old chihuahua in the paper today! I read that smaller dogs are longer lived

Triffid1 · 28/04/2022 22:31

Ours is 10m energy of a puppy and indestructible.... the things she has eaten, and survived....!

Triffid1 · 28/04/2022 22:32

10 years. Not 10 months. Grey eyebrows are cute though.

wannabebetterwatchout · 28/04/2022 22:32

Bo entirely agrees - best dogs ever (and good to know longest living as I couldn't be without her!)

My little cutie is Barkley- approx 9 (rescue so a bit of a guess) possibly mixed with yorkie (also a guess!) he still looks like a pup. @Maydaysoonenough 😄 I bet it is! They are so cheeky 😉

Mine is 7 and she's got the energy of a puppy, she's a living breathing waste disposal unit and she's known as Stinkazoid, I love her. She's my best little buddy.

@wannabebetterwatchout my mums dog looks exactly the same as yours and he's 19 🙂

MrsLargeEmbodied · 29/04/2022 06:28

they are the best indeed,
mine is 9
my last one lived to almost 17

I recognise that pose.... mine snoozes like that ALL the time! Also eats everything (although that has required a few vet trips for stomach pumping over the years).

Squidwitch · 29/04/2022 09:38

Poppy is 15, still just as active, and grouchy as she was since she came to us at four ❤️ bit slower on walks, but still jumps in car boot and still top dog bossing the whippet and Labrador about! But pretty deaf unless a smacko is being broken up

They might miss something, and you know a JR HAS to be involved in everything, right?
I am not surprised in many ways, but on the other hand, from the amount of scrapes mine get themselves into, it's a miracle they survive beyond puppyhood! This was Bodum, who was a legend

We should all be more Jack Russell. Eat what you want, chase the (metaphorical) rat, and don't give a damn what anyone else thinks.

Maydaysoonenough · 29/04/2022 14:45

I haven't got one but know 1. She recently had a front leg amputated and someone obviously forgot to tell her that means Slow Down!

Redannie118 · 29/04/2022 14:49

Mine is 14. Minus a few teeth, but otherwise completely fit and healthy!

WeddingBella · 29/04/2022 15:12

This doesn't surprise me. Mine is 14 and in the last 2 years he's had pancreatitis, lost the sight in one eye completely, is losing the sight in the other, going slightly deaf, has had 6 teeth removed and been diagnosed with cancer in his bones.
I don't think he realises though because he still launches himself on to our (quite tall) bed, enjoyed his walks every day - including meeting every dog that comes near him and swimming in the river) and acts like a feeding alarm clock. Plus he's an expert at getting my parents, niece and nephew to give him treats whenever he wants some.

I love him so much 🥰

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 29/04/2022 23:17

I don't think yours is 100% JRT op! He looks similar to my boy who is Jrt cross yorkie.

I absolutely love terriers, they're not got the faint hearted but their loyalty and character is amazing!

doggiescats · 29/04/2022 23:27

I have had two JRT ..sadly my MillieMoo died two years ago but I still have another beautiful girlie aged 6…I absolutely love JRTs they really are the best .
I have a grandchild who is only 2 and my little doggie is absolutely brilliant with her …she has never even given the toddler just a little warning..she just sits there and puts up with all the unpredictability of a toddler! I absolutely love her to bits 🐾
I think about Millie every day …she was my sanity when the kids were going through their teens ,gcse,A levels ,driving lessons etc .

NotMeekNotObedient · 30/04/2022 07:08

I saw that article too. I miss my little JRT. Such personality. They are tough little pups that's for sure!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 30/04/2022 07:17

mine woke me this morning,
for a game of ball in the garden at 6.30!

Maydaysoonenough · 28/04/2022 22:28

This sums up my JRT's attitude perfectly, she's had a few scrapes but lived (rather robustly) to tell the tale, she'd miss something if she gave up easily. Everyone is here to see her, everything is hers for the taking and life is greeted each day with masses of enthusiasm, and she also has no problems relaxing without a hint of guilt when she wants, and where she wants regardless of my feelings on it - I aspire to be more like her!

Indoctro · 30/04/2022 07:41

This was my JRT growing up as a child. Lucy was her name and she lived to 17 and was totally blind and deaf by time she died but could still manage to snatch food from your hand and run off with it Grin

She was a right little character
