What should I add to fish and rice to make it ‘complete’

DDog has always been fussy (small breed, 1.5 years old). We found food, both wet and dry, that he is ok eating, but frequently turns his nose up for most of the day. He recently had a bad case of diarrhoea and the vet recommended chicken/fish and rice only for a few days. He liked the chicken, but loves the fish. There is such a difference in how he is eating. Always super keen as soon as you get the bowl out. I don’t want to transition back to his old wet food as it clearly wasn’t working. He has started having his dry food in addition to the fish/rice, is that enough, nutrition wise? Or should I be adding vegetables in with the fish? Which ones?

I always save a bit of plain cooked fish for DDog - she loves it.

If you have a good quality kibble then I think your dog would be fine nutritionally on that.

Adding veg also good - again she gets plain bits I keep for her when I'm cooking for us (she usually eats round raw!)

Could you add a supplement like Pooch & Mutt Bionic Biotic or Dorwest Sensitive Keepers Mix?

As long as the dry food is complete and he's eating it, it shouldn't be a problem Smile

I wouldn't bother with the rice...give him the fish with dry food. That should have everything he needs

What dry food is it? Generally most are nutritionally complete anyway so you wouldn't need to add anything extra if she's eating that as well as the fish

He's*

The rice won't be adding any nutritional value so I'd ditch that and just give him a bit of fish with his dry food.

Ok, I’ll try mixing some fish with his dry food and see if he is still enthusiastic 🙂
Thanks

You don’t need rice. It’s just a filler to bulk it out

Original Chappie is fish based, so it might be worth trying that too, so you always have something long-life in the cupboard just in case (also contains some chicken)
