Anyone else’s dog had this horrible vomiting / diarrhoea bug?

Poor creepy dog has been throwing up for the last few days, diarrhoea etc. We saw the vet today who said that it’s really really common at the moment.

Poor dog won’t eat anything but has had an anti nausea injection but now eaten a bit of boiled chicken and rice. I am £130 poorer.

Anyone else had this?

Yes. Our dog had vomiting and very bad diarrhea and didn't eat anything for 2 days. We were starting to worry about her but she is back to her normal self today TF. Hope creepy dog is also feeling better soon.

Poor love. Mine had it in the run up to Christmas 3 years ago. She was so poorly! She was just about well enough to enjoy Christmas Day, thank goodness. She loves Christmas. Wishing your pups speedy recovers!

If your dog becomes listless, please take him back to the vet.

Ours were both off food, had upset tummies and were just not themselves for 48 hours.

They soon bounced back though and didn't see the vet as I knew this bug was doing the rounds. I always keep Pro-kolin in the house just in case, and they just ate bits of boiled chicken.

Mine was vomiting on and off from around 6-9am this morning but has perked up a bit now. Still hasn't eaten though is drinking a lot of water. Talking to a few dog owners in the park it seems to be doing the rounds.

Doggy is a bit better today, running around but still got diarrhoea but at least not vomiting any more!

I was told to keep mine away from the doggy park in case it was contagious?

Thanks Creeeper I'll keep him away till he's fully better

Our GR had it before Christmas. Diarrhoea for a couple of days prior to being sick. Once sick we had a vet prescribed probiotic paste. This stopped the sickness but not the diarrhoea. We had to get antibiotics. We also had to feed chicken and pasta/rice for about 10 days. Cost a bloody fortune in chicken breasts!

solvendie · 26/02/2022 21:31

Oh .... and, yes - £30 for probiotic and £100 for consultation and antibiotics

BurgerKingAddict · 26/02/2022 21:56

Our pup had it. He was poorly and couldn’t even drag himself out of his bed to greet us at the door when we got home ☹️
He’s perfectly ok now. Like others we gave him chicken and rice and cuddled him like a baby

Darklane · 26/02/2022 22:21

You can buy the same pro biotic paste that the vet sells from the online vet supply sites without a prescription . I always keep it in stock.
There are several good, reliable sellers. Viovet, Vet U.K., Petmeds etc
Cheaper & no consultation fee, as long as you know it’s just a tummy upset & not something more serious requiring the vet of course.

ShittyFingers · 26/02/2022 23:39

Yeah mine had it a few weeks ago. It was awful. Lasted around 3 days.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 26/02/2022 23:43

Is that still going on?

I had a thread about it a few weeks ago. Both of mine had it.

Make sure they are drinking. The stock from the chicken might be better than chicken and rice, mine didn't touch the solid food, but had some stock in day two.

It was very worrying indeed.
