Sleeping arrangements and moving house

Hi all!
We have a 4 month old whippet, due to being between houses I have been sleeping with him on a sofa bed in the living room since he came home. There is a crate next to us and he goes there if I need to go out for 2 or 3 hours, he is settled when he is there.
Now in the nee house, I will have a bedroom again, and ideally I would like him to sleep on his own.
I can try the crate but I worry that he will be upset, in a strange place and on his own,
No crate and on his own is not really an option at this point as he chews the furniture. Having said that, I will not really have anything valuable to start with.., now in rented accommodation I can't leave him alone and out of the crate for this reason.

Any advice on how to make the move would be appreciated! Thanks

I’d have the crate next to your bed at night then gradually move it out the room
Or sleep next to where you want the crate to be then gradually move yourself away?
I’d try to not to rush it as the new house won’t be familiar to start with Smile

I tried to crate him next to me where we are now but he barked non stop... Made me think he might be more settled if he doesn't see me
