Mental stimulation for post op recovery

Ddog is only 9 days after an operation to repair his cruciate ligament. The vet said up to 16 week recovery. The problem is Ddog seems to think he is already cured and wants to run about and play!

Any ideas for toys or activities that might tire his brain out please? I can see millions of things on Amazon but if like to know what your dog enjoyed. He's a lab x if that makes a difference.

We have had some fun doing scent training. Not sure if that’s too much exercise but my dog tends to walk around looking for scent rather than running.

There is a Facebook called canine enrichment that has some good ideas

Thanks @Turquoisesol I'll have a look at scent training. I don't have fb but I'll search canine enrichment.

Hide their food and make them sniff it out. Snufflemats

My lab x is 6 days post the same surgery. He's nearly 13 though so fairly chilled. He has already had w couple of moments of wanting to run/play though! It's amazing how quickly they start to bounce back from the op.
We've been using a kong with cream cheese smeared in it. Ddog can't have them in the freezer though as it makes him sick
We also bought a snack snake which we fill with pieces of cucumber and he loves attacking that to get them out. Keeps him entertained for a while

Thanks I'll have a look at snack snakes and snuffle mats, he does love a satsuma. He has a Kong but he's never been very interested in it, even when full of food.
