There must be a bad bug going round. My two have been feeling decidedly wretched, not eating, throwing up, runny poo. the lot.

Getting worried now.

Things seem to be getting better.

No need for the vet, they have been drinking and had some food as well and nothing's come out either end, so that's good.

Older dog is recovering better than the younger, which is a surprise, I'm not complaining though.

This thing was scary.

My dog has had diarrhoea for the past three days. First night he was sick called the vets and they said to feed him chicken and rice and keep eye on him. He's stopped being sick now and had perked up but the constant letting him out at night every hour is breaking me so I'll be taking him to the vets today so see if they can give him something. Weirdly enough he isn't going out every hour during the day just at night time. Hmm

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 25/01/2022 08:14

Mine weren't too bad with the diarrhoea but just didn't eat, or drink for two days. They just slept, all the time.

Mine had terrible diarrhoea for about 10 days.
Bright and never off her food.
The paste from the vets for acute diarrhoea didn’t help, so we moved on to a probiotic with vitaminB ( Nutraflora )which made a big difference.

BippityBoppityBloop · 25/01/2022 16:01

Hope all the doggies are OK.
My lab was sick yesterday and today, just once each time, about 4 hours after food and straight after a walk🤔
TMI...but the first lot he ate back up before I could stop him🤢
He seems OK in himself so will keep an eye on him.

Seems like a tummy bug affecting lots of dogs in the Midlands, Yorkshire, East coast and possibly more places...

Happy to report that we are back to normal service here.

We're just back from the vet with the same thing - he's had an anti-inflammatory/anti-emetic jab and has a probiotic binding paste. Our vet said she'd seen absolutely loads of it in the past week or two - the dog who went in before us had exactly the same thing. I'm a bit worried because our boy is 11 and has had a nasty bout of pancreatitis in the past, but he doesn't seem as ill with this and has only been sick a few times; he's just very very sad and flat and has very loose stools. The vet said his tummy was quite sore and he screeched the place down when she took his temperature. I hope it passes quickly.

Really glad your two are better, @ChardonnaysPetDragon!

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 26/01/2022 20:44

Thanks!

We also have the probiotic paste. I should have bought shares in the company, judging from how many of us have ended up with a tube or two.

Hope your old boy gets better soon, spiderlight. I had a dog with with pancreatitis once, it broke my heart to see him sad and uncomfortable.

Oh god the diarrhoea started here last night. Woke us up six times to go out. How are everyone else's pups doing (obviously I hope to hear stories of rapid recoveries!!!)

spiderlight · 28/01/2022 09:23

Oh no! :(

We're heading back to the vet shortly - I think this is actually a pancreatitis flare, not just a bug.

peachicetea · 28/01/2022 10:48

My dog !!!!! I took him to the vets and he has colitis but on the beach last weekend so many dogs had the runs ! The owners we're saying they don't know what's wrong

UnoriginalPenguin · 28/01/2022 10:54

We are in Yorkshire, but not coastal. It appears to be very widespread. Good luck at the vets spiderpup.

spiderlight · 28/01/2022 14:15

We're back - saw a new vet this time who thinks it might have started out as gastroenteritis and that's triggered his pancreas, so he has anti-nausea tablets and pain relief. No more vomiting but lots and lots of horrible small squitty poos :( Right off his normal food but has eaten a bit of plain chicken.

Goawayangryman · 28/01/2022 16:23

Is this the thing that's been shown in many cases to be a type of parvo?

Goawayangryman · 28/01/2022 16:28

Actually, forget that - I think that was just a press report. SAVSNET suggests not necessarily parvo

jytdtysrht · 28/01/2022 16:39

Mine had similar to this and spent 3 days in the vet hospital. Did recover very well though, quite a sudden perking up.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 28/01/2022 18:45

It's horrible isn't it?

Hope all affected doggies recover quickly.

Gingerninja4 · 29/01/2022 07:32

You can get the probotic paste to keep in on Amazon ,always have tube of pro kolin in as my boy has delicate stomach

UnoriginalPenguin · 31/01/2022 22:10

Oh good grief, how much longer is the diarrhoea going to last? Day 4 here, although it feels like forever. I hate seeing my poor boy like this.

Whattochoosenow · 31/01/2022 22:52

It was 10 days for ours

Redeyed · 06/02/2022 21:29

My dog has just started with diarrhoea, so tips and advice welcome.

The virus has been rife here. We've tried to stop her sniffing and washed her paws etc after walks. No avoiding the thing.

She's ended up in the vets before with sickness and diarrhoea. I'd like to prevent a repeat.

She's currently laid in her basket feeling sorry for herself.

spiderlight · 06/02/2022 21:35

Pro-Kolin sorted out the diarrhoea for us but you need to speak to your vet, really.

It's a horrible illness and it triggered an attack of pancreatitis in our cocker. He had us scared for a few days but he's completely over it now.
