It's that time of year again when our Pug sheds her coat all over our home, she has 2 coats so it is relentless, just wondering if anyone has any tried and tested tips?

No idea. We have a 5 month old golden retriever and it’s bloody awful.

Girlintheframe · 10/01/2022 06:46

Lots of people recommend the robot vaccine. I just used to Hoover daily. Also regular brushing.

Shmithecat2 · 10/01/2022 06:48

Brush them outside once a day if weather allows, and vacuum lots. That's about all you can do.

KiloWhat · 10/01/2022 06:54

Good brush outside everyday

Somebodylikeyouu · 10/01/2022 06:56

A rubber brush helps

3ormoredogs · 10/01/2022 08:34

I find a good bath helps followed by daily brushing!

Slightly damp rubber gloves work really well on carpets an soft furnishings

We have the Groomi comb, which is miraculous - removes so much more of the loose hair from their coats than any other brush/comb I've tried.

I hate to tell you, but once the proper coat comes in it gets a lot worse! Wouldn't change our girl for anything though Smile

I could knit jumpers from the amount of hair that moults off my 3, it's relentless!

EricScrantona · 10/01/2022 09:47

How much hair can a pug lose? 😂

I have a very large Akita who sheds twice a year and it's ridiculous. My house basically becomes a padded room with the fur. All I do is take him for a walk and pull it from him to give to the birds and brush him. It's just keeps coming til it stops and then it's time to go again. Worse than a DFS sale.

KurtWilde · 10/01/2022 09:52

@EricScrantona I feel your pain - I have 3 Akita's and the fluff is unreal!

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 10/01/2022 09:53

Ddog2 I hoover. He loves it and will roll over so I can do his belly and hold out his legs to be hoovered.

Ddog1 is scared of hoover so her I just brush a lot.

EricScrantona · 10/01/2022 09:54

@KurtWilde tell me more!!!! Are they all together? How old are they? Are they ok together? American?

StillMedusa · 10/01/2022 10:01

Double coated Eurasier here... she blows her coat totally a couple of times a year but also sheds all winter when the heating is on...
I brush her with an undercoat rake every night...and hoover every day!
If it gets embedded on the stair carpet a Croc shoe rubbed over it brings the fluff off brilliantly Grin
But as EricScrantona says... like the DFS sale.. it's never ending!

Winniemarysarah · 10/01/2022 10:01

Robot hoover

KurtWilde · 10/01/2022 10:03

@EricScrantona They're American Akita's. My eldest boy is 5, he's like a huge lap dog and has no idea of his size. Then my girl is 4, she has a lovely soft, mothering instinct and has adopted our cat! Youngest is 18 months and still in teenager mode but he's ace, bags of energy, loves the Absolutely brilliant dogs, love people, love cuddles, love each other!

EricScrantona · 10/01/2022 10:08

@KurtWilde wow! Sounds amazing. Mine is basically a cat. Super excited to see you when you come home, 5 minutes of pure adoration and happiness. Then he goes and sits in the bay window judging everyone and huffing if you dare disturb his peace until he is ready for a stroke. I miss doggy cuddles so much! Also American!

KurtWilde · 10/01/2022 10:13

@EricScrantona haha I call mine cats too! My eldest is so judgmental, he tries to sit on the living room window ledge so he can just watch and judge, watch and judge! They're awesome dogs.
