Toughest puppy stage?

I’m in the very early stages of first time puppyhood - some parts have been tougher than expected, others easier, but she’s a lovely laid back pup so far. The most difficult thing is logistics as she can’t be left at home for more than 10 minutes and not yet fully vaxxed so can’t go anywhere. Wondering what’s to come - i’m interested which stage other people found hardest?

I have 3 beagles. (High @icedcoffees!) The puppy stage is hard work and exhausting, and you're pouring a lot of input into a dog which you don't know and love, and which doesn't know and love you. That's tough.

The teenage phase? Beyond horrific! My youngest is 8 months and is a nightmare. Insolent, gobby, resistant to recall, steals everything, chews all the things.... But I look at my 2.5 year old, who is a delight, and remember she was equally hideous.

Have fun!

I'm envious that you have three @Motorina Grin I think DH would have a heart attack if I suggested we got another!

Envious or quite quite mad!

(Get another one. Beagles are better in pairs Smile )

I adopted my working Cocker at 8 months old and he was HIDEOUS for months. Barking constantly, chewing everything, destructive, wilful, just out of control. But I feel part of this was him being uprooted, as he's an anxious dog by nature, and this wouldn't have helped.

He's 15 months now and still a bit of a nightmare in many ways, but getting better.

With previous dogs I've had in my life, I'd say the hardest part for me is the teenage/young dog stage. So from about 8 months to 2 years old, depending on the dog!

I wish we could, but my in-laws have him during the day while we work and they couldn't cope with two!

The teenage stage (not listening, running off) seemed to only last about a month with our dog but the puppy stage was definitely the hardest. Probably around 3-5 months when the biting was at its worst. I wore wellies indoors the entire time. In fact everything up to about six months was so full on I questioned our decision to get a dog daily.
