What age did your boys lift their legs to pee things and start humping stuff..?

Because my just gone 11 week old chihuahua boy is lifting his leg to pee now and humping his toys!
Is this normal or is he going to be a nightmare, marking sex pest 😱

Excitement, play and humping are all mixed up together so entirely normal - even at such a young age.

Don't make a big deal of it, distract him to focus on something else (a toy, for e.g) or stop play for a few seconds to give him chance to calm back down again.

He will grow out of it (almost certainly Grin)

Cannot remember when my boy first lifted his leg, but he was neutered at 3 and still humps his bed …but only his bed.
His (spayed) sister on the other hand , will hump anything but only occasionally. . We just take her attention away as pp suggested.

My boy humped a fair bit between 5 and 8 months ish but has calmed down a lot now. But I do think it depends on the dog and possibly the breed?

Mine lifted his leg to pee really early on and still lifts it at least once a minute when he is out and about but strangely doesn't hump. He is one.

9 month lab - wobbly cock of the leg started at about 6 months. He now cocks his leg on walks but still crouches down to wee at home on his loo run. He will hump any soft bedding we leave unattended and gnaw and eat it so he doesn't have it very often so actually minimal humping of things. My terrier was around 6 months when he first cocked his leg, he stopped humping his favourite teddy every day when he was around 18 months. That said he does occasionally have a go on it if he's in the mood (he's 2 and a bit now!!)

My chihuahua was cocking his leg when we got him at 12 weeks and would hump his toys, but never tried humping another dog. I think it was excitement so there’s hope 😊

My half chihuhua started humping at 7 weeks old. He's over 3 months now and still not lifting his leg to pee but will regularly hump his favourite soft toy. I googled it and apparently it's just them being playful and not sexual till their balls drop.

The humping thankfully was only for a very short period when a small puppy. He's 1 now and never does it.

My boy didn’t start lifting his leg until about 6 months and it took him ages to work up to a full leg cock. He still does a girly squat in the garden at night and he’s 18 months.

We didn’t let him hump so it didn’t become a problem. Every time he started we clapped our hands and said ‘ah ah’ and redirected. He doesn’t hump at all now.

No, some don’t do it, some start to do it at different ages and some squat sometimes and lift their leg sometimes.

Mine didn't lift his leg until he was around 8 or 9 months.....

He's now 8.5 and he never humped anything, hence he's still entire. I would have had him neutered had I known that he'd be a target for other agressive males though Sad he has been attacked repeatedly.

Our boy was 11 months when he started to cock his leg. Can't remember how old he was when he started to hump things but he was neutered when he was three and it didn't stop him.

5 year old collie, never humped anything. Cocked his leg from about a year but not at everything to scent mark but only when he needs a wee.
Decision taken with the vet to leave him entire as he's a nervous dog who frankly needs a bit of testosterone!
