any tips how to introduce puppy to family dog?

it is male
family dog is female

We had a baby gate up anyway.. Ddogs (4)on one side.. Dpuppy on a lead on the other.. Then opened the gate!!

Actually was terrified-me not the dpuppy!!

I also have a female dog and a male puppy.
My plan was to put the puppy behind the baby gate and treat the older dog for looking at the puppy first and introduce if all goes well.

Unfortunately the puppy could fit through the baby gate!
So that rather put an end to that plan.

I introduced them just holding the puppy and it went far, far better than I ever thought it would

Can you introduce them on neutral ground - such as the garden of a friend who either doesn't own dogs or whose dogs are vaccinated?

Let them interact freely, but be ready to step in if necessary. If it's going well that will obvious very quickly.

This was what we did when our last puppy arrived, and she and our our older dog bonded immediately.
