How do you find them with other dogs?

I had a Chihuahua. The little chap died in September. He was the most loyal pet I have ever had and his two best friends were my Staffordshire Bull Terrier bitches who were older than him.
They all slept together and got on very well.
After they both died we got another dog to keep him company and he was fine with her as well. Now he has gone and I have just the one - she is a pug, I would love another Chihuahua.

Our chihuahua is 9 now. When we got him as a puppy we already had another dog, a terrier. They got on fine, but after our terrier sadly died at the beginning of last year our chi came into his own - he was clearly meant to be an only child.
We regularly have my friends chihuahua to stay when they’re away with work and the two dogs get on fine - they’ve boarded together in kennels and been great, but I wouldn’t say that either of them were particularly keen on meeting other dogs when we're out walking, and they certainly don’t seem to miss, or pine for each other when they’re not together.
So, probably better living as the only dog, can however be quite happy with another dog that they’ve got used to over time, not very sociable with dogs they don’t know.
I imagine this as being spectacularly unhelpful

Mine can be hit and miss, he tolerates our labrador and they live quite happily together. He likes bigger dogs over smaller ones but he was attacked by a Jack Russell when he was younger so I dont think that has helped his prejudice! I always keep him on the lead when we are out though just because of his size. He does take a while to warm up to other dogs but in general he's okay

The one that comes past our house every day has a serious case of small dog syndrome and would basically eat you. I also have a small dog, not quite as small but he also has small dog syndrome. He has some dog friends that he plays nicely with but a strange dog, he is not good.

I have a deee headed chihuahua crossed with a Jack Russell. So a mongrel. He looks like a total fawn deer head.

He loves all dogs. He will say hello to any dog very friendly and he tries to encourage the bigger dogs to chase him.

He met a huge dog last week, some sort of mastiff I think and it was lovely to watch them playing. The bigger dog was really gentle when they were chasing.

He does seem to recognise another dog of the same breeds though!

He gets visibly excited and is friendly but it's a bit more "I know you" even though he doesn't. He's not as playful on the meeting and he's much more "let me smell you"

I grew up with them. They were all fine.

The one my mum currently has, is a bit hit and miss. He doesn't mind my older spaniel though doesn't interact much with her. But really doesn't like the younger spaniel, he gets quite snappy. Even though she submits to him. If she even walks bear his food bowl, he goes mad. When he realises she is there, he stands with his head over the bowl of dried food. Mum has to take it up. Oddly, it's only the older spaniel that's ever eaten his food.

We haven't Introduced our youngest yet. She is a young rescue and a bit nervous. So , I am not risking a stressful meeting until she is a bit more confident.

I have 3 chihuahuas and generally they only like other chihuahuas! Bark at other dogs...

I'm looking after 2 for a friend atm. They do not like my shih Tzu or my cats! Friend says they do get on with other small dogs though

@careermindedwoman @nancybotwinbloom @Fabellini Sooo cute I love them but the Chi I know in real life who belongs to my manicurist- although one of the most gorgeous-looking dog specimens is Satan in the most adorable Chi coat He is a mean little monster who growls and bites viciously when he doesn't like the way you look at him (but because he's a Chi - his anger looks a bit comical but he really is a monster and if he were bigger would maul a person). I stopped going to that salon because of him. He may be untypically angry though

I have a male chihuahua. He loves bumping into other chihuahuas on his walk, sometimes barks at big dogs, and for some reason, absolutely hates French bulldogs with a passion!

This is my adopted three year old Ringo. He hates other dogs but loves all cats. We have three house cats and he definitely knows his place in the house

I think Ringo thinks he actually is a cat 😁

@Looubylou yes he probably does, he won't play with dog toys but likes to chase those cat toys on sticks and jumps in the air with the cats.
