Please. Otherwise I may not be able to hold myself back from going and getting the one in our pound that’s up for rehoming.

They are bitey, scratchy, chew your stuff, poo in places you will stand in, wee on the rug, keep you up at night, irresponsible, aggravating little horrors who find new ways to be bad every minute.
I'm getting up at 1am to meet my new foster puppy, so will tell you more bad things tomorrow

Aquamarine1029 · 23/07/2021 20:50

Never underestimate how much work having a puppy can be. It is beyond what a lot people imagine, and it's 24/7. I think babies are easier, personally.

This. But they also smell amazing and give the best cuddles……. My puppy is asleep under the bed as I type this (after pissing on my sons bed and chewing the remote control!)

They are toddlers in a fur coat.... Who would go back there ..

Hoppinggreen · 23/07/2021 20:53

They are complete Dicks
It’s why they are so cute, if they weren’t we would never get one

You are not helping! Grin

I currently have my 1 year old rescue (from same pound) snoozing and farting beside me on the sofa. I know she would love a brother. She would. She just would.

Thankfully someone else has reserved the puppy.

I will still check tomorrow to see if they took him. They will- he’s adorable.

They chew you & everything you own, they pee everywhere, they howl at night, cost you a fortune , totally steal your heart and make you love them forever.
Buggers.

Did anyone mention they are bitey, bitey, very very bitey.

My "puppy" is now 12, has just been diagnosed with Cushings and has been a little s**t for much of his life, love the bones of the little sod, he's a comedy genius but just doesn't realise it!
Bortles · 23/07/2021 21:35

Ive never found them hard work! Never used crates or had issues house training. Just some newspaper and a cardboard box bed and some toys. Lost a bra and a shoe or two to chewing but not the end of the world. Puppies are the best invention in the universe! Sorry op.

Well I’m glad I’m not relying on you lot to prevent this happening!

They are tyrants in a furry suit!

That household routine you had sorted? I think furry tyrant knows better.

Treasured belongings? Definitely for sharing/ chewing.

And no matter the chaos, she'll play the harmless puppy card.

MotionActivatedDog · 23/07/2021 21:56

I spent a good chunk of this evening pursuing DDog around my garden to retrieve my trainer. If I’m going to add another dog I might as well get all the trainer stealing out of the way at the same time, right?

That’s what those insane people who have two babies within a year say you justify it- isn’t it? Grin

Ddad told me today he has to keep an Eagle eye on his ddog or she turns round and eats her poo - does that help?

Wegobshite · 23/07/2021 22:25

They are like tiny fury toddlers who have downed double redbull & vodka and taken to much speed when getting ready for an all night rave 😂😂

DoingItMyself · 23/07/2021 22:26

They smell horrible. The smell of puppies is really disgusting.

Cheerstoyou · 23/07/2021 22:32

I love the puppy smell Shock

I never was a dog person.
Caved in and got an 11 week old westie. He is 8 months now. Literally never had any bother with him at.

CMOTDibbler · 24/07/2021 09:58

My little foster is with me, and now smells considerably better than when I collected her from the rescue transport at 3am, bless her. This is the misleadingly quiet bit when she's still exhausted...

MotionActivatedDog · 24/07/2021 10:02

Ddog currently eating my trainer. I’ve given up chasing. She looks happy Grin why did I spend so much on chew toys?

We puppy sat last weekend for a poo eater. He had to be watched like a hawk to stop him eating both his and our dogs poo. He was bloody exhausting and solidified my decision to never have a puppy again Ddog is 5 now and just so EASY
Noshowwithoutpunch · 24/07/2021 11:03

Incredibly tying.
Wave goodbye to impromptu weekends away and long days out (unless of course you know somebody who isn't busy or going away themselves and would look after pooch. OR you look for somewhere dog friendly to stay- but often not quite as nice plus there's the worry of them destroying the place whilst you go out for dinner).
Also beware of a travel-sick pup.
Forget lay-ins. Dog will still need a wee early morning.
Forget eating a meal in peace if you happen to have a greedy pup.
Forget that lovely smell when you open your front door. If a dog lives there then you can't disguise the smell (I'm sorry but even the non smell dogs still leave a doggy odour).

MotionActivatedDog · 24/07/2021 11:04

See I already have a dog @Noshowwithoutpunch so none of that is putting me off Grin
