Getting puppy to sleep for an extra hour!!

Pup (15 weeks) is waking at 5am. I'm taking her out to wee/poo putting her back in her crate where she falls asleep again.

Problem is I can't get back to sleep!! She's currently snoring in her crate I've been awake since 5 and am increasingly exhausted!!

Yes I remember those early times. It will get better and actually if she is falling asleep again after toileting rather than demanding playtime that is a bonus.

What time will pup go to bed/sleep at night ?
It’s a bit like having a baby, you have to go to bed early to offset the early start.

Last night it was 11 but she was sleeping before she went to bed!

Puppies get into a routine quick and it’s difficult to change. My dog is 3 years old now and wakes around 5 every morning. I let him out for a wee but he doesn’t go back to sleep, he just sits and waits for his first walk of the day around 6 am. Hopefully in your case as puppy grows she will be able to hold her wee longer.

Time and patience as their bladder gets stronger.

She's still young and tbh you're lucky that she's going back to sleep! Wink

If you struggle to get back to sleep yourself then maybe start going to bed earlier for a bit. Do you have a DH who can do the final late-night wee?

Our dog used to wake up at ungodly hours, but now at 4.5 months isn’t a morning person at all! I have to wake him for the school run at 7:30 and he’s very upset about it. He would snooze till 11-midday if I let him! Hopefully yours will too soon Smile
