Broken canine tooth on a puppy

So we're due to pick up our puppy next week. He's been for his vaccination today but broken a Canine tooth along the way. He's back home with his litter mates and being monitored. If he's poorly/infected/in pain he'll have an extraction but if not the breeder isn't keen to put him through an unnecessary op and would write a clause for any related problems into our contract.

Does this sound fair or do all broken teeth need to be extracted? Opinions please?

It entirely depends on how it’s broken. My pup broke two canines when he was little but neither was broken enough to expose nerves and he was not far from teething age so we just waited for nature to take its course. A tooth with pulp exposed would be a different story. I’m sure the vet will recommend the best course of action.

Thanks for replying. It's really hard as we don't have him yet and I'm relying on the breeder's judgement. She's been fab so far and I'm pretty sure she'll do what's best for our pup but you never know and treatment is expensive. Either way I suppose as soon as he's ours we can get him checked at our vets and treated if need be.

When I was choosing from a litter there was a wee girl with a heart murmur and the owner actually got the vet that had examined her on the phone to me to discuss the issue further...I wonder if that would be possible?

I can certainly ask. Thanks 😊
