Advice/experience with toy poodles

My husband and I have been talking about getting a dog for some time. We have spent hours reading and researching and watching YouTube videos on all aspects of dogs and training. I'd love to hear from people who have poodles or have had them in the past, particularly toy poodles. A few things i expect to be asked so i will address them now :-

1. We have a house with a good size garden.
2. We have six children aged 5 - 18.
3. We have looked up the cost on food, grooming, pet insurance and we can afford it without struggling.
4. I am a stay at home parent so i am home most of the time apart from when i go to the shops, appointments etc.
5. If we want to go out for the day at least one of my eldest children would be home as they don't come to parks, zoos etc anymore.
6. If we were all going out together for longer than a couple of hours we would make sure it was somewhere we could take our dog or my sister would mind him/her.
7. We don't go on holiday but if we ever did then one of my sisters would mind our dog if we couldn't take him/her.
8. We have lots of love and time to give to caring for and training a dog.
9. I do like a clean and tidy house so i know i will have alot more housework to do to keep the place clean but that's ok as i'm home all day and willing to do it.
10. Plenty of time to take the dog for walks. Is there anything else i should know? Feel free to post a photo of your beloved poodle 🙂

It sounds like you are completely ready to be poodle owners to me!

Our pup decided last night he wanted to sleep on my DS bed... was hilarious - just looked at me (whilst snuggled) when it was time to go back downstairs, had to convince him to come, and at my bedtime he was not impressed at going in his crate - gave up after a minute or two and it was clearly stubbornness not worried or upset so I left him to it, he was fine - but they do like to think they are boss sometimes!
