What age does a lurcher lose their puppy fur

Rescue pup still has almost all her puppy fur. She’s been here two weeks and on the day I got her she had only lost a tiny bit on her spine, that patch has now grown to about the size of my hand but everywhere else is still puppy fur. She was a stray so age unknown. Vet says she could be anything from 6 months to 18 months which feels very vague to me. I was hoping her fur loss might be an indicator?

If she’s still got puppy fur then definitely younger rather than older. Not much more than 6 months if she’s even that. Have you got a pic?

Photo please! I love lurches... and a fluffy puppy 😍

This sounds a bit weird actually. Puppy hair is generally a bit softer and it gradually moults into courser fur, I’ve got a 6 month old and her hairs been course for weeks and weeks. Is she short or long haired? Are you sure that isn’t her normal fur, and she’s developed some kind of skin condition on her spine?

It’s definitely her puppy fur and the new patch is lovely smooth stuff. She was at the vet yesterday for an all over check so no skin issues. Hopefully pics have attached. She’s being stubborn and refusing to pose. Not sure if the smooth fur on her back is clear in the photo.
