Can I ask about poodles?

Are they good with kids?
Family dogs?
Easy/hard to train?

We are seriously considering one after a recent thread. We've only had one dog previously which was a cockapoo so we've not a great deal of experience.
Bit of background we have 2 DCs 4yo and 7yo , decent garden, lots of walking routes nearby, I work from home and will be for the foreseeable future.
I'm aware there are a few different sizes of poodles as well so we are trying to take that into consideration too.

Any insight and advice would really be greatly appreciated to help us make a decision.

Thanks everyone!

@BBOA just to check - your dog is not 100% poodle? Thankyou for the suggestions, I love cocker spaniels but we are looking for something that's as hypoallergenic as possible due to a family member with allergies.

We have a one year old mini poodle and he's just a dream. Brilliant with DC and so smart, easy to train and so loving. He's become a bit of a barker although we're trying to train him out of it.

I 100% recommend! Best dogs ever.

I have two miniature poodles and they are the easiest dogs I have ever had. Really easy to train, want to please so good recall, good with children and other dogs. Mine are not especially barky or nervy but that may be because I have two.

Excellent companions, happy to hang out by my feet whilst I work then go for walks of any length. They are definitely smart and learn tricks quickly; one of mine worked out that I like him facing away from me when I lift him up to put him in the car so started turning round to make himself easier to pick up. The next week the other one started doing it too Smile.
