Do neutered male dogs smell more like females?

Our dog has been attracting unwanted attention mainly from male dogs. They spend a lot of time licking and sniffing his genital area and hovering over him. Our dog is submissive, and will always roll over when meeting an unknown dog, which doesn’t help the situation. When my dog tries to get up the dog will run after him sniffing his butt. Some dogs whine while they sniff him. It’s frustrating sometimes because I can’t get them away from him. Is this a hormonal thing or something else?

There's definitely something different, because some dogs attack un neutered males but not neutered ones! I'm assuming they aren't checking by sight...

Because of the drop in testosterone after castration I suspect they smell less male rather than more female. Obese dogs (male) can have higher levels of female hormones (like obese humans) which must confuse other dogs.

Mmm, my male lab has always attracted this attention, even before he had his ( huge) testicles removed .
He gets a lot of female attention too. I think he smells lovely, and it seems the local canine population agrees with me 😍

@Happytentoes, I think my dog smells lovely too, even when he is crusted in mud. It must be love!😂

@yearinyearout, lots of dogs took offence to our boy before he was castrated. It started to get me down towards the end. Now it seems they can’t get enough of sniffing him!
