Cruciate ligament in greyhounds

Hi, I wonder if anyone can share experiences about cruciate injuries in greyhounds? Flash managed to hurt his on the 23rd, we don't know how- he suddenly started limping. The vet gave him metacam which helped a bit too much as on xmas night he decided to run in from the garden and was crying and yelping. With resting and the meds he started to limp less again, then this morning he moved on his bed and was suddenly yelping again. Haven't been able to get through to the emergency vet yet.

I guess my main query is whether it's fairly usual for them to briefly aggravate the injury by moving injudiciously, like a human would with a leg injury, or is he making it worse every time? We really need to know if we can freak out a little bit less, without ignoring any changes of course.
