Dog hearing foxes and getting us up in the night.

Argh.

The last month she’s up once or twice a night. I’m never sure if she needs a pee or not. One night we did try and ignore her and she did keep barking.
There is sometimes a fox that we can see on the cctv just before she goes out so I think that’s what it is. Apparently in December they bark and scream so I guess she’s hearing them.

Any ideas? We are knackered and grumpy.

Where does she sleep?

Could you use blackout blinds and white noise in that room so she can't hear or see what's happening?

The room is blacker than a black thing already, but white noise is a good idea.

She sleeps in the sitting room at the front of the house but goes out the back to pee. We’ve started shutting the door to the kitchen to muffle the noise but that doesn’t work.

Foxes, the bane of my life. I feel your pain OP - she’s just doing her job and so I second the idea for background noise to get through the fox visiting period, up her exercise so she’s nice and tired, make sure she’s toileted last thing and don’t get up. Mine barks on mute at a stern ‘enough’ but I found getting up and letting out didn’t work.

Time will fix this. Sadly I’ve never heard of anything which really works other than securing property against foxes (not easy).

I’m going to have a look at our fence and see if I can stop it getting in.

Thanks Smile
