Can I totally recommend finding a vet who does it laporoscopically!
I've always had my pets spayed/neutered but this is the first time I have had a lap spay and the difference is incredible.
Had my 18m girl spayed on Wednesday ..earlier than I wanted but she had a terrible second season and became really reactive.. took 4 months for the hormones to settle.
The first night was rotten.. totally stoned from the anaesthetic and she cried on and off all night. The next day...back to eating and drinking and a short walk.
Day 3... can I go play now Mum?!!! No!
Day 4.. ok let's go for a walk.. off lead.. I want to play! Off she went, happy to see another dog and absolutely no sign of discomfort. Her 'wounds' are tiny.. two stitches in total. Normal walks after just 3 days.
Today is day 6 and if she didn't have a shaved underside you would never know... she's bouncy and happy and no discomfort...just as the vet said.
It cost more than a traditional spay but absolutely worth every penny!
