Cut paw pad - how to treat

Dog cut his big pad yesterday - clean cut about 1cm 2-3mm deep. I notice the tiny amount of blood on the tiles. We are not sure what he cut it on. He's fine.

I'm just wondering how to treat it. I've bathed it knows salt water and will get some leuceiln drops. The vet does not get in with ddog unfortunately.

Is there anything I should look out for?. How long should we test at home before going to the vet.

It's still a bit damp. Doesn't not look infected (not hot oozy etc) but I'm fearing the worse.

We also have isoderm gel. Dh sugested superglue Hmm

Clean it with diluted hibiscrub, or saltwater as you’ve done, then let it dry and heal. I find rest is important- so don’t walk, just let them potter in the garden. Keep it as clean as you can, but don’t go mad constantly messing with it. Keep an eye on it, but don’t worry too much.

Thank you @Honeyroar that's reassuring. Sure dh will
Appreciate a few days off the 5.45am walks.

Keep a careful eye on it. Our dog did the same three weeks ago now and he seemed fine with it being cleaned out for a day or so then started limping. He had to have a GA and stitches and its being dressed by the vets every three days. He isn't allowed out for walks and needs to keep it dry as well as having painkillers and antibiotics. Hope it heals up soon and is all ok for you!

@Ilovewillow this is my fear! Hope
Your dog is on the mend.

We have had several of these. One needed staples from the vet and dressing and took about 1 month to heal with no walks and a boot on his foot when out to toilet in the garden (weather was wet and muddy).

A few have been shallower and we managed with keeping it dry with no walks and just putting a boot on it when very wet outside. Again about 3 weeks for it to heal so he couldn't split it open when running about.

Also needed a blow up collar to stop him licking it until sufficiently healed.

We use antibiotic cream on cut or stripped pads, check them often and keep them dry. I have a kit with vet wrap etc, and a set of little boots.

Thanks everyone seems to be healing and drying out- fingers crossed
