What are you getting Ddog for Christmas?

This is our first Christmas with Ddog. We never buy our cats anything but realised we do need to buy Ddog something. I'm sure she'd be happy with some fresh chicken.

What have you bought/ are going to buy your dog this Christmas?

I used to buy toys and balls but now at 4 years of age I don't bother anymore because he just isn't that toy oriented.

Instead he gets cooked turkey and we freeze little bags of it so he gets it all over Christmas and new year and he absolutely loves it. He also gets a bit of our steak and spends most of the holiday period walking around the kitchen sniffing what's in the oven hoping he gets a 'present fall from the sky' Grin

cyclingwife · 22/11/2020 16:07

@BiteyShark yes I think that would be heaven for my dog too Grin Maybe I'll just go food then. I just know all the relatives and friends will ask what we're getting her!

Last year we bought her a book this year we were planning on getting her personalised bowls.

Floralnomad · 22/11/2020 16:12

Our dog loves unwrapping presents , this year he is getting a new house collar ( petiquette collars) , tennis balls and some long puzzle sticks . He will also get gifts from adult ds and my dsis.

CMOTDibbler · 22/11/2020 19:14

I always replace the favourite toys, and buy in some posher than usual treats - they love the Treats2Sit4 ones. I buy their assortment boxes for the family dogs as well

cyclingwife · 22/11/2020 20:41

@Floralnomad yes our dog had a huge box of paper, treats and a few toys (also wrapped in paper) for her birthday and she loved the unwrapping more than the toys. Tell me more about the long puzzle sticks they sound interesting.

@CMOTDibbler yes we replaced her toys for her birthday, or got duplicates of her favourites. Think a few special food treats will probably go down well here too, thanks

Probably just extra morsels of cheese and chicken.(he’s a pug and loves all food)

Also he loves if we have been shopping for us to ‘accidentally’ leave the shopping bag on the floor so he can grab his own dog chew out or whatever I have got him...
Really cute when he scurries off to his bed pleased as punch with his treat still wrapped up,

shiningstar2 · 22/11/2020 20:54

She is getting a new toy and a stocking in the hearth like the grandchildren. Their dog will also get a new toy here and a stocking in the hearth. She might also get a new bed for the sitting room. Her main bed is in the kitchen but she also has a big cushion in the sitting room. I may buy a new one which goes better with our decor. How mad is that Grin

Pipandmum · 22/11/2020 20:56

Why not buy something for your cats?? My cats have always been more into toys than my dogs.
Anyway my dogs might get a larger than normal chew bone. If I remember.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/11/2020 20:58

I've bought the neighbours dog a new teddy each..
Apparently they love teddies, but they only last a few months.
Need something for DHs office dog...

KateF · 22/11/2020 21:01

He's getting a new blanket for the sofa and maybe a coat, but I'm not sure he'll wear one! He's not bothered about toys but will enjoy a turkey dinner and a supply of sausages and cheese.

spidermomma · 22/11/2020 21:16

My ddog is 8 now she's like a big donkey round the house she's. Great!
Every year she gets a treat stocking , a big teddy - she carries them around with her all the time like the kids an their blankets... and then just some general goodies like a bone, doggy puddings from pets at home an then she will get a Christmas dinner like she gets a Sunday dinner ever week with some meat and veg! She knows it's Sunday as she won't leave my kitchen until she's had that dinner !!

cyclingwife · 22/11/2020 21:43

@Pipandmum the cats don't care it's christmas, the pup will be excited! Although she's excited everyday at absolutely everything Grin She also experiences FOMO big style and so she needs something if others are opening things. Cats just give me that look of dismissive indifference

❤️ spidermomma’s dog and the Sunday dinner.
Due to shift work the humans don’t get Sunday roast every week.
But when we do pup gets one too - no potato or Yorkies though!

Allington · 23/11/2020 16:00

One of those collars with flashing lights, so I can see where she is when she goes out in the garden at night!

Els1e · 23/11/2020 16:39

Raw duck neck and new squeaky ball shaped like a sprout. Happy days.

spidermomma · 23/11/2020 19:36

@onepieceoflollipop she won't come near me if she doesn't get her dinner haha. She literally sits under the baby's high chair waiting for it with everyone else , no pressure honestly! Xx
