Long story short, we have had a trying day with our 11 week old dachshund pup. List of crimes include poo-eating, water bowl-tipping, stair-climbing, sofa-scratching, puppy pad-chewing, hand-nipping, door-scratching... the list goes on 😂 still love him with all my heart of course, puppies will be puppies.
Cheer me up with your worst puppy stories!

All normal things Grin. We currently have a 14 week old cocker and she has done all those things, though the water bowl is jumped in with front paws rather than tipped!

I had a boxer before and when she was a pup I was an Avon lady, I left her for an hour and she got in the lounge and ate all the stuff, there was chewed up jewellery, body lotion splattered over the walls etc. I’m sure you can imagine! I laugh about it now but I was sat on the floor crying at the time. She also ate loads of shoes, kids toys, and ripped off the stair carpet.

On the plus side I feel well prepared this time Grin

@Jayne35 oh no! Puppies are little monsters, aren’t they... but they’re so cute they somehow get away with anything! Grin

ate brand new boots, electrocuted himself chewing through a wire at doggy daycare so got banned from going back.. got stuck in a rat trap eating poison in a pub beer garden so had to go to emergency vet to throw up.
chewed through my electric blanket in December. . eats every poo he can possibly find.. it goes on Sad

Jayne35 · 19/11/2020 20:25

@Tryingandhoping2020 they are cute and they do make you laugh as well as cry. When our boxer was about 9 we were sat on a bench eating ice creams and she leapt up to chase a small dog (something she always hated) pulling DH straight over the back of the bench, flat on his back. It was very funny Grin

Mine really likes horse poo when we are at the yard. Always managed to sneak some no matter how vigilant I am. The other week she then puked it all up on my car seat. It smelled BAD! Envy< not envy!

Gin4thewin · 19/11/2020 20:31

12 week old mini daxie here. Pisses on the floor every chance she gets, steals shoes and the babies toys and outright refusal to go in her crate and be left alone without screaming the house down, gets rabbit ears as bribery and sleeps in my room. But shes a good girl for the most part!

QuentinWinters · 19/11/2020 20:36

My 5 month old puppy is housetrained but last week decided to jump up on my bed and wee on it. A big one too. AngryAngry

ArcherDog · 19/11/2020 20:40

Ate my advent calendar on 2nd Dec. Left his doggie chocolate one though 🙄
Chewed carpet in a rented house Blush
Add a bowl of defrosting mince from the counter
Ate half a chocolate cake (the half he could reach)

More serious- got over stimulated on a walk and kept running past me jumping up and biting my arm. My jacket sleeve was shredded. That was a bad day for us.
Luckily he grew out of it!

SprogletsMum · 19/11/2020 20:41

Mine got into some chicken and devoured the lot. A few hours later she had explosive diarrhoea all over my kitchen. It was up the walls and everywhere 🤮

Tryingandhoping2020 · 19/11/2020 20:57

Loving these stories, making me feel a lot better as a first time pup owner 😅 @Gin4thewin my pup is exactly the same! So needy 🐶

Neighbour's pup ate both their passports. They were due to go on holiday the next day.

tabulahrasa · 19/11/2020 21:28

Suddenly decided the cat litter tray was a a snack box...

The thing is, the cat at the time had lymphoma and had been on chemo for a couple of years, so once every 2 weeks she got a tablet that had to be only handled with gloves on and for 7 days after I had to wear gloves to touch any body fluids or waste...

So of course 18 hrs after she’d had the tablet, about 40 minutes after the vet closed - that’s when he decided he’d try it.

Had to phone the out of hours going, ok... my cat is on this dosage of this drug, given at x time, the puppy is 10 weeks, weighs 10kg and ate it half an hour ago...

Do I need to do something? Or?.... lol

Was one of the weirdest phone conversations I’ve ever had

jambeforeclottedcream · 19/11/2020 21:29

When ddog was smaller chewing a sharpie on mums new carpet.

Other ddog just chewed everything apart from pens

jambeforeclottedcream · 19/11/2020 21:29

Should add it was cream carpet

DramaAlpaca · 19/11/2020 21:32

Mine savaged huge chunks out of a sofa Angry

Luckily for him he's cute.

Crappyfridays7 · 19/11/2020 22:02

Ate his own shit this afternoon
Boke
Knawing the skirting board
I’m a bit fed up with him today

Jayne35 · 19/11/2020 22:07

@Crappyfridays7 I’m a bit fed up most days at the moment. However I know she will grow into a lovely well behaved dog one day soon, apparently Grin

JulesM73 · 19/11/2020 22:13

Golden retriever puppy chewed through a new MacBook, luckily DH’s and not mine....

stinkingbishop · 19/11/2020 22:59

Lab puppy ate a sofa. In fairness, it was quite interesting seeing the cross section and all the different layers...

She's a big girl now. Good as gold. Apart from being partial to the cats' poo. And the chickens', and the guinea pigs'...

Darklane · 19/11/2020 23:28

One of my Skyes ate a hole in the hall wall.
Another deftly cocked a leg & aimed a full pee into the anorak pocket, hanging over the back of her chair, of a woman sitting at the side of the show ring we were about to enter.

Girlintheframe · 20/11/2020 06:19

Our lab was always up to mischief
As a pup he ate our kitchen and the heel off one of my brand new boots.
Incidents as he got older included-
Stealing, eating then vomiting up my home made Christmas cake
Eating the frozen chicken we'd left out of tea
Stealing and eating a chocolate cake I made. That cake ended up costing me £185 as he needed the out of hours vet!!
GrinGrinGrin
We still miss him and his mischievous ways.

Crappyfridays7 · 20/11/2020 07:11

@Jayne35 same, been a long week tbh
He’s 13 weeks and generally pretty good but I’ve not been v well and I need to do some more training but am exhausted. We will have lovely well trained dogs eventually....
I hope
Going to take him for an earlier walk today tire him out hope your day goes well

midnightstar66 · 20/11/2020 07:18

Ah some of these make me realise how good d pup actually is. Apart from the odd LOL doll she's not chewed or eaten anything she shouldn't and we have a very un puppy proofed home. Dc leave their shoes and crap everywhere. I think the key was not getting a lab, boxer or similar 😆

Syrrup · 20/11/2020 11:45

Ripped the carpet off the stairs and shredded it (carpets were less than 18 months old)
Ate OHs passport
Tried to chew the walls so they all have massive gouges
Had a wee on a man's leg
Stole a full sirloin steak right out of my hand as I was plating up
And he was an absolute shark. He's large/giant and used to jump up and grab onto the back of my upper arm on walks, totally shredding my coat and leaving some horrendous bruises/cuts. I strongly considered tying him to a lamppost and leaving him on multiple occasions.

He's lovely now though. Most of the time.

Tryingandhoping2020 · 20/11/2020 13:02

@Syrrup had a wee on a man’s leg! You must have been mortified, hope he saw the funny side’ 😂 I have a little shark too. He seems to mostly reserve it for me, not my fiancé 🙄 when will it stop 🤦🏼‍♀️
