Dog very depressed after grooming

Dog had rather a big haircut today.

Has been miserable ever since. Usually he’s fine but had to go a bit deeper was a little matted. Does anyone know else’s dog get like this?

Hahaha so stubborn - I think that’s the Shih Zhuhai part. That said we always laugh as my last dog was a shar pei (the most stubborn and aloof dog ever) and I said “oh this time I’d like a lap dog... mine is literally glued to my lap!

@Poshjock yeah it is horrible. The one off ones that the owners accept needing to go short is no problem, it's the ones that bring them in a couple times a year matted solid each time and then have a go at the groomer when they say it needs to go short.

I really think grooming is something that a lot of people overlook when researching dogs and deciding on a breed.
If it was a child who's head hair was badly matted people would be (rightly) telling them its neglect and cruel but they don't have the same concern for dogs.

Owners like yourself that keep them short to prevent matting are very responsible, I personally think a short cut on most dogs can look really cute and also practical☺️

genuine question - what made you decide on that breed and not just get a poodle? I've always wanted to ask why people get these crosses but daren't in real life. Promise I'm not being rude I just really want to know.

Oh not this again. It is rude, really rude. Do you ask the same of owners of the type of dogs that regularly end up in rescue?

Well good news is he seems better today - if not his usual self. I do think he’s feeling a bit cold as has been burying himself under the duvet (am in bed watching a film) which he hasn’t done for a while.
