Where can I adopt a spaniel from?

Have tried all the big charities they either have none or not suitable to live with children.

Are there any obscure smaller charities I'm missing?

I'm in Scotland but willing to travel.

Don't want to pay £3k to a shady breeder

I would give it a few months, the demand for pups is sky high at the moment and the chances are the rescues will be inundated with dogs in a few months.

Spaniel Aid are inundated with possible adopters for any halfway straightforward dogs at the moment. We are looking for a 2nd spaniel having recently lost one of our pair and if you don't get in straight away they have already received a couple of hundred applications. A few of our friends have rescue spaniels and as a PP said they can be hard work due to poor training.

@Glitterb starting to see them filter through now

ive been looking for a second dog. got our lab puppy in jan, before lockdown was a thing....he's one now and ive been looking for a rescue

theres a fair few of the same age and younger. all seem to state change of circs (back to work)

countrygirl99 · 14/10/2020 13:47

@GirlCrush as I was walking our sprocker in the wind and rain last week I did think there might be a lot of "change of circs" soon.

OP can you not wait? why are you fixated on spaniels? much as I love them they are hard work since they are gundogs or waterdogs, delightfully headstrong and need a lot of training. Err .. as do most dogs. And walks, walks, walks. Does that fit in with your lifestyle? with a 4.5 year old? which would you bath first after a muddy walk?

Have you tried cocker spaniel club of Scotland? I'm sure they have a few numbers on their website
