Lost my old girl today
24
MajesticWhine · 11/09/2020 21:11
I lost my darling working cocker spaniel today. I can't speak so I'm posting here. She had a great life. She was nearly 14 and such a fantastic dog.
She had quite extensive cancer and we didn't want to let things to get worse. She had quite a decent day today so it was so hard to do. We are all devastated.
BiteyShark · 11/09/2020 21:14
So sorry
TeddyIsaHe · 11/09/2020 21:16
Oh op I’m so sorry. I lost my gorgeous WCS nearly a year ago and it is just so so hard.
You did such a good thing not letting her suffer, as awful as it was for you.
I hope you’re ok
Devastatedyetagain · 11/09/2020 21:17
It is awful isn't it. I lost my best friend a couple of weeks ago. She was by my side all day, every day and was the most loyal, amazing dog. I have slowly moved all of her things and put them away. I have got her ashes back and find that has helped. I'm not bursting into tears every give minutes but I miss her so much. I am sending a virtual hug 🤗 💐💐
MajesticWhine · 11/09/2020 21:19
Thanks.
I've been crying for a week just with the decision making and anticipation. And still in floods now.

Oh I'm so sorry, it's so devastating. I lost my best girl two years ago and it was just awful, cried for three days. It does get easier though. I hope you're okay, big hugs x
Mrsjayy · 11/09/2020 21:28
I am so very sorry it hurts so much doesn't it we had our dog pts a few weeks ago and I'm still heartbroken. Hugs for you.
dublingirl66 · 11/09/2020 21:29
I'm so sorry
What a wonderful age
It's just so hard though to say goodbye
We don't deserve these beautiful creatures xxxx
Wolfiefan · 11/09/2020 21:29
Oh I am so so very sorry OP. Better to have a pretty decent last day than an awful one though. You’ve done the right thing. But I’m so sorry you had to.
Gohackyourself · 11/09/2020 21:53
I lost my 11 year old Labrador on Monday through osteoarthritis.I’m heartbroken ... there’s another similar thread on here I posted on too, it was great reading through the support messages.
I have 2 other dogs but last week my other dog lacerated his leg chasing a fox into bushes - required surgery which got infectedon Tuesday morning upon a check up it was advised he needed intensive care to not loose a leg.
So today we have one lonely dog and shell shocked owners ( he’s pulling through now at vet hospital so on the mend)
I feel for all of us that have lost our beloved pets , new routines to get used to and as I said on other thread I keep thinking I hear my old boy in the hallway where he liked to lay.
Today is first day I’ve actually had a conversation with someone, I couldn’t speak to anyone since Monday. Big hugs to you and your family xxxx
Cissyandflora · 11/09/2020 21:59
I’m so sorry OP and to all of you who have lost your dear pets. I lost my beloved cat last year and I have not got over it at all. He too had an awful cancer and was really suffering. He was only 9. I think of him every day. I really don’t know how people come to terms with the loss. I really feel for you and it must have been so incredibly difficult for you to make the decision today. You’ve been really brave and selfless.
MajesticWhine · 11/09/2020 22:38
@Gohackyourself hope your dog makes a very good recovery bless him
BrandNewShinyThings · 11/09/2020 22:39
I'm so sorry for your loss. Lucky dog to have had so much love for so many years.
MajesticWhine · 11/09/2020 22:39
It is a comfort to know other people understand the pain of this loss. Sorry to everyone who has gone through losing a beloved pet.
CokeyCola · 11/09/2020 23:53
I'm so sorry . I'm glad she had a nice last day.
ErrolTheDragon · 12/09/2020 00:03
I'm so sorry, but glad she had a decent last day. Yes, people here understand the pain - and the not being able to speak about it.
LittleCabbage · 12/09/2020 00:07
My 16 year old terrier was put to sleep on Monday. I am devastated. She was a wonderful dog and I took her being around for granted. I will miss her so much.
I'm so sorry for your loss OP. It sounds like you made the call at the right time
StillMedusa · 12/09/2020 00:44
So sorry for your loss. You did the best kind thing for your girl, but we all understand here the pain of her loss. Be kind to yourself xx
spiderlight · 12/09/2020 17:22
So very sorry. It's awful - like no other pain I've ever known - but we suffer so they don't have to
ThroughThickAndThin01 · 12/09/2020 17:32
@spiderlight

I’m going to remember that.
So sorry OP. Can only imagine how you are feeling. Our gorgeous old boy is 13 and a half and I think we are facing this soon. Can’t think about it.
Your girl W as so loved, and what an amazing life she had with you.
Namechange30000000 · 12/09/2020 18:45
