They were play fighting (amicably, tails up and wagging gaily, much theatrics and exaggerated movements). Then Dog 1 fell awkwardly onto dog 2's neck with her whole body weight. I should say that I suspect dog 2 has some arthritic / inflammatory issues as he is stiff on getting up after rest. He is 6. He yelped and bit dog 1 as a reflex reaction. No anger or aggression there - just an unfortunate turn of events. Both dogs separated, looking shocked but were fine with each other within minutes. However dog 1 (the faller) has a puncture wound to her lip. Its barely bled - I didn't notice it straight away. I have bathed with hibiscrub solution. Do I need to take her to the vet for stitches? - it doesn't look very deep.

I am hesitating because the vet has previous for over treating (imho), and I have previous for over reacting and seeking vet treatment when perhaps others would manage a situation at home

Better to get it checked... dogs have long teeth and it could be quite deep & done some damage.

Will definitely need antibiotics at very least. Don't risk it getting infected as it'll cost you more in the long run. Dog mouths carry many many bacteria and it's HIGHLY likely to get infected without antibiotics.
