Boy or girl dog?

My partner and I are getting a puppy in June. We have had a girl dog before - loved her.

Although we have recently been more open minded towards a boy. However - there is one thing I dislike - when the ‘red rocket’ makes an appearance! Is this likely to happen a lot?

Also is there any difference in character between male and female dogs?

We are looking to get a Tibetan Terrier (medium sized dog).

I don't know if there are differences but I'm on my second dog dog. And he's as sweet as the first. Bouncy and energetic but not a nasty bone in his doggy body.
Both retriever types.

Girl, boys cock their legs and pee on everything

I prefer girls because of how boys pee on things, I love my boy he's beautiful but he is alot more annoying than my girl where he will spray on things and doesn't listen, my girl listens more and is more cuddley and of course doesn't spray.

I have a boy and he only cocks his leg when out on walks , he doesn’t even bother in the garden . He’s neutered but does let it all hang out on a regular basis if he’s been home alone for a while . My dsis has always had pairs of dogs and although they’ve all been lovely the girl in each case has always been the more temperamental of the two and the girl she has at the moment is actually snappy with strangers and dogs .

Prefer boys. Not really an issue with his penis showing, when he was younger and got a bit excited maybe, but no worse than a female having seasons.

I preferred the fact he cocked his leg as it mean he didn’t destroy my lawn. He cocks his leg up the fence, usually in one spot, whereas a female will squat and wee all over the lawn potentially causing lots of burnt areas.

Male. Our ddog also never cocks his leg in his own garden. I've never seen his lipstick but he is quite wooly down there. I've only ever had make animals. He's so lovely. And. Less to go wrong with a male and cheaper to castrate etc. Not that I paid as he's a rescue. I just love him!!

It can also depend on the breed. With pugs the girls are known for being feisty and the boys more chilled... We’ve had both girl and boy dogs I would be happy with either. Enjoy your puppy it’s lovely having a pup.

I've had three female dogs and one male dog. The male is the most affectionate creature I have ever come across in my life, he's just lovely. The females have been wonderful too, just not as cuddly.

Neither my previous nor current male dachshunds cock or 'pee on everything'. The first one was a leg humper until he was neutered, the second one can't be bothered.

Friend has a male Tibetian Terrier he is the most chilled laid back dog ever. Once he was neutered he was fine in the humping dept. I’ve never seen his lipstick (he stays here a lot).

He’s a total muck magnet though, goes out of his way to dip his face in muddy puddles. He’s never clean lol also has problems with his ears with them being so hairy.

Other than that great breed

I don't know why but I can't handle seeing a dog willy! so it's girl dogs for me. However, I also can't handle seasons at all (white carpets) so neutered as soon as possible...

But in case anyone else is reading this thread and thinking boy or girl. neither of my boys have ever 'weed on everything!'. They both save it for outside and neatly cock on trees and corners of solid things. One neutered and one isn't xx
