Dog pee out of carpet

Our boy has had an accident in the night, he's wet his bed and it's gone through to the carpet, not soaked just damp. What can I use to get it out? Do I need proper carpet cleaner spray?

We had a professional carpet cleaner come round who said that when we used Vanish to clean out dog urine it damaged the carpet. Not sure what alternatives there are that can help.

@Stellaris22 Thats what I'm worried about, of course it's a new carpet!

Get a enzyme pet cleaning liquid from the pet shop.

You need biological washing powder - put a small amount in a jug with boiling water then let to cool. Dab a bit on and rub in. The reason you use biological power is that this does not contain an amonia smell - so it kills the smell and stops dogs wanting to go in same spot.

@palacegirl77 I use bio detergent, that should work.

Simple Solution is really good - it's one of the enzyme based ones as demented suggested.

userxx · 30/01/2020 12:05

Thanks for the suggestions, its the first time he's done it and he looked so ashamed when he realised, bless him. He will be 12 this year so I'm not complaining.

Worth popping a few puppy pads under his bed if he is getting on in years :-)

userxx · 30/01/2020 12:47

@palacegirl77 Great idea, will get those on the list. Thanks.

We use Brisk its a professional upholstery shampoo £15 a gallon from your local agent or about £30 from Ebay.
Ring them as they have agents in most towns who supply garages/ valeters.
It lasts over a year as you dilute it with water, we have a valeting machine but keep a trigger spray of it under the sink
They also do a fantastic hard surface cleaner G101 does a fantastic job of the bath room, trainers, even clean the leather suit with it although they tell you not to it came up like new with weak solution.
