Cone of Shame

Poor foster dog has a sore paw so has an E collar to stop him licking / chewing it whilst antibiotics, Metacam and bathing take effect.
He's bashing into everything, having moments where he tries to shake it off and then moping about the rest of the time looking ashamed!
Vet recommended taking it off when he's supervised (presumably when he won't chew his paw) but we wondered whether it's less cruel to just keep the cone on 24/7 than keep taking it off and then putting it on again (it was a struggle to get the thing on).
Any advice gratefully received.

You can get one's that aren't cones, but more like a very fat collar that should stop him getting his mouth to his paw. On phone so cannot link but have a look on Amazon.

You could get a medical pet sleeve, longer than needed and sew the paw shut on it

Or a soft paw cover designed for indoor use and recovery.
