Dog Boarding lady asked me to help out casually, what to consider?

It may not work out and end up a one hit wonder, but if it does happen and she asks for a couple of hours respite to get to the shops etc here and there, what implications may there be? what should be put into place? and how much should I charge her for my time?

I had them for 30min last fri off the cuff, so she could nip out and she got me a box of Chocs, this could work out well for both of us as my circumstances don’t allow me to work many hours and I appreciate it’s hard for her to get out as she feels guilty leaving them even for a short amount of time

Does she drop them to you or do you drive to hers?
Dog walkers here charge £5-£10 for an hours walk but around £20 for a day.
Tbh if it’s going to be for such small times and very infrequent, I’d just happily accept those chocolates or an occasional bottle of something.

I too would infrequently help out for a box of chocs or bottle of wine. If I had a dog, I might occasionally ask her to take him in return.

However, things to look out for:

• knowing the dogs you will be keeping an eye on. If she has regulars, this is easier. I'd want to know if any had issues or things they were wary or nerovus of etc.
• knowing what to do in an emergency. I'm thinking medical (yours and theirs), suddenly having to leave the building (fire), fights etc.
• what to say to any owners that suddenly turn up unexpectedly
• what you should do if she doesn't come back (e.g. accidents etc), including owners contact details

Does she have insurance and would you be covered on it?

Yup, Insurance would be my concern, and what to do in emergencies.

If she is licensed she should not be able to do this - if she is not licensed she should not be boarding dogs
