Where do you go witth your dog on holiday?

I'm thinking about driving to the Alps this summer, think my 3-year-old GSD would definitely be up for it. Do any of you take your dogs abroad? And if so where do you head?

Would love to do the lake district at one point too.

We're in the south so getting to Eurotunnel isn't too bad.

Has your dog had rabies vaccinations and a passport? This can take a bit of time to get organised so might want to look into it now. It's all abit up in the air because of brexit at the moment so i would advise you to get the ball rolling on this as soon as. Your vet will be able to advise on timings.

We haven't taken our dogs abroad but we do take them camping. Most sites are dog friendly and they love it

We took our dog to France last year and are doing it again this year.
Once you've got the passport and had the rabies injection, it's spectacularly easy.
We go via the tunnel as we preferred that to the ferry.
Before you return you have to get them checked by a vet. I think it's within three days of return. As soon as we walked into the vets the knew exactly what we wanted.
When you reach the tunnel port they direct you to a separate section first. They hand you the scanner to detect the dogs microchip, check against passport and off you go. Easy.

We’ve never taken ours abroad and probably never will but he’s been to Northumberland a few times and the North York’s coast with us and had a great time

We live in the Midlands and have gone to various places in Wales - north, south and mid Wales coast and also mid Wales inland. Prefer the coast as he loves to run on the beach and we couldn't let him off where we stayed inland due to livestock / farmland.

We normally book a cottage and just check for pet friendly. We are going again in two weeks time - very quiet dog friendly beach less than 10 mins walk from our accommodation and some lovely dog friendly pubs.

My DDog didn't like it, cried in her crate at night so had to sleep with one of us. Barely slept at all week and would barely eat.

Think she prefers kennels 🤷🏽‍♀️🙈

We take ours all over, off to Scotland on Saturday, 9 hour drive but will be stopping a lot as taking our 1 year old collie and his new sister who's 10 weeks. Last year our collie went to Wales with us. He loves it 🙂

Our previous 2 dogs used to come out with us on our narrowboat all the time. They went to some strange places (for dogs) like Birmingham City centre, but also walked for miles when doing flights of locks. They loved it and were always exhausted at the end of the day. We also used to rent dog friendly coastal cottages all over the country, so they were pretty well travelled. Never took them abroad though.
We now holiday abroad (not dog friendly ones)and current dog goes to kennels.

I take mine all over in the caravan. Had him 18 months and he’s been to Hertfordshire, Yorkshire, Lake District, North Welsh Coast. We are off to Aberdeen this summer. He loves it.

We go to France, London, Ireland, Derbyshire, Norwich, Scotland - we love the little bugger = he goes everywhere with us!
