How much food for 6 month labrador puppy?

Would anyone be able to let me know how much James Wellbeloved kibble a 6 month lab pup should be getting, have asked the vet multiple times and she says to go from the back of the packet but that suggests 390g a day which seems like a tiny amount for a growing puppy to me. Am I being silly or should she be fed more? We also add either some chicken or other meat and sometimes some vegetables to her kibble if that needs to be taken into account

It usually goes on the age (when a puppy) and size until they are an adult. You need to keep checking as they grow in age and weight as it will change until adulthood.

And your vet is right in that you need to check the back of the packet as different brands require different amounts (typically the higher quality/meat contents ones require less amount to those that contain a lot of 'other stuff').

When mine was on kibble you usually don't need much (we now feed wet and by volume you need far more wet for the same calories).

What James Wellbeloved are our feeding? Is it puppy food or which variety

Can you take a photo of the back of the packet for us to see?

Can you also tell us what she currently weighs?

Luciaia · 19/05/2019 18:52

We’ve just moved onto junior food, will take a picture of the packet as soon as get home. And she weighs around 14kg

That sounds about right then - if her expected body weight is going to be between 25-30kg.

Do not add extra food without taking away some of the kibble. An overweight lab will have joint issues more than a heathly weight lab. At 6 months your lab will be getting to the lanky stage so do not be persuaded to give more food - they will level out again.
