Should I give up on the idea of getting a dog?

I cone from a dog loving family, we always had dogs. I have had 3 of my own as an adult. No dog now though, for several years as I was working full time with a long drive to and from work. Now though, I work 2.5 days a week. I have 2 young children, and a cat. I'm not averse to having an older dog.

But having been looking at a variety of rescues for 6 months, all dogs are no to cats or small children or both. Should I just give up? I don't really want a puppy.

I think it is worth persevering, you will find the right one eventually , why not try specific breed rescue centres, they are generally smaller centres they tend to be much more knowledgeable about the dogs in there care.
