First dog visitor to houenfor puppy

My schnauzer puppy is 19 week old and my mum is visiting today with her JRT. It will be be firt time a dog has come to the house. I don’t know how my puppy will react. He likes other dog but tends to get dominated by them.

Any tips on how to introduce them and why we might expect?

Thanks

I would introduce them outside of the house initially if possible - even meet your mum in a nearby park. It will be neutral ground and puppy will be less threatened/territorial

Ok thanks. Good idea.

Some dogs are not keen on puppies, so I’d keep both on leads initially. But as above, an intro on neutral territory is a good idea. The puppy should not be allowed to harass the JRT, and vice versa. Be aware that toys, chews or food may lead to resource guarding - especially from the adult dog, so it may be best to clear these away until you see how they react to each other.

Yes, agree with above, introduce away from home, and clear away food, dishes etc. Make sure they have space and don't meet in a tight corridor or something. Then, be ready to separate with gates/ different rooms if you need to. Good luck!
