I use nexgard and worm my dog. I am aware they are chemical treatments and could have side effects. But we mix with other dogs, walk in highly dog populated areas and I have two cats who would do all in their power to give critters to the dog.

I worm count my dogs 3 monthly and comb with a nit comb and lint roll
daily. (Yep even the newfie!) No chemicals needed but super high protection from fleas, ticks and worms. No impact on the environment, wildlife or even me and the dogs can cuddle up to the DC safely.
