Male or female greyhound?

Looking for advice from pointy nose owners!

We're going to meet a grey next week with a view to adopt. I had a preference for a girl but I'm not set on it - the one we are meeting is a boy and we will see how we get on. I am a bit worried about whether a boy will mark indoors though. Just wondered what everyone's experiences were. Do you have a preference boy or girl and if so what are your reasons?

My first 2 greyhounds were males (neutered) one was very into sniffing & marking and his brother not at all but neither were an issue indoors, my girl has had more accidents tbh but that's just her.

I'd just go for whichever character suits your family best and not worry about their gender.

I had one of each. Neither weed indoors. She was very clever and totally obsessed with me. she liked everyone else but she would get up when I got up and sit watching me. He was soft and soppy and very affectionate with everyone though not as clever as her. He worshipped her and used to try and get on her duvet to snuggle. She would tolerate it and then walk off after a while. However, when he was at vets for a day having a dental, she really missed him, despite seeming indifferent to him at times! She could have easily lived as an only dog but he definitely needed to be in a pair (they live in pairs when racing and at the rescue where I got them - I had her on her own for 18 months before getting him).

Since losing them due to old age, I have ended up with 2 rescues one after the other, both male and neither hounds - one a staffie X and one a Patterdale.

Overall I'd say my boys have been more cuddly and affectionate than my female grey. The two terriers were both very switched on and clever.

I've loved them all and still feel terribly upset when I think of the ones I've lost but I have ended up with different breeds as I've taken those in most need. The staffie x was 12 and disabled and pretty much would have died in the rescue as most don't take the old ones particularly when they will need the vet. The Patterdale had been in the rescue for 9 months before I took him, having previously been a stray. He was more of a project as he was rather institutionalised having been in the rescue for so long and unlike the Staffie was only 2 when I took him. (sorry OP as I have digressed alot!)

At the end of the day, the dogs pretty much chose me coming to the front of their pen and making contact and I just got the feeling that they were the One!

Don’t think gender makes much different imo.
I’ve had both, found that females tend to kill the grass more when they squat and wee whereas males cock their legs up something.

I've had one of each and I agree that females kill the grass more, its something to do with the chemicals in their wee. Other than that I don't think there's much of a difference between the males and females. My female has had accidents indoors but she's younger than my male and has never lived in a home before whereas my male had.

Boys are more easygoing but quite playful. Girls tend to be more sedate.

Personally, I prefer boys but girls are easier to handle

Don't worry about the marking. They stop once house trained
