How much time off work for puppy?

Have a puppy arriving in a couple of months and trying to work out what I need to prepare my boss for?
If I work from home for the first two weeks will that be enough?
After that, I normally work two days a week in the office but only for five hours so was going to get a dog sitter to come in for the hour in the middle for a few months so the puppy would be alone for 2 x 2 hour stints twice a week from 10 weeks old. Is that ok?

Mine is seventeen weeks and honestly he doesn't like being alone. He's a breed prone to separation anxiety though. We don't leave him alone - he's either with one of us or at daycare, and both sets of parents are willing to watch him for short bursts too.

He's toilet trained and sleeps through the night but that's only because someone is always there to let him out if necessary. He can't go more than a couple of hours without needing a wee when he's awake.

Puppies are really full on and I can't imagine you'll get much work done while he's so young I'm afraid!

Hi - I wouldn't do 2hrs at 10 weeks I'm afraid. Try and get a dog sitter or daycare person for a couple of weeks til week 12? All dogs are different though, our westie was very self contained whereas Cockapoo hates being left at all!

By 12 weeks we could leave our pup for 2 hours. We built it up slowly and we have been really lucky as she hasn't had any separation issues.

From the first few days we would leave her alone in her room for a few minutes..making a big fuss of leaving the house and then would sit in the car and come back in....by 10 weeks we could leave her an hour. We were consistent with the same routine - Going out at a similar time each day, always left her with a kong or similar. I was back to work after 4 week. I Work a 5 hour day, with dog walker coming in and taking her our for a minimum of 2 hours.

She is 2 now and I can leave her for the 5 hours if the dog walker is away or it's an emergency. I watch her on a cam....she sleeps and looks out the window .
